Last night Casey and I went to the Baltimore Aquarium for their “date night” event. They apparently do it a few times a year, and I could not recommend it any more highly. The food was terrible, but the wine, beer and cava were good.
We got there right at 7, before most people were there. It felt like we had free rein over the aquarium. They keep the crowd small, so we had plenty of uninterrupted time at each exhibit. And I don’t know if it’s because it was night, or because not too many people around, but all of the fish, turtles, jellyfish, dolphins (you had to hide behind a curtain to see them in their dark tank), even the octopus were very active. I know I spammed my Tumblr with photos, but it was so exciting and amazing.
Seriously, walking through a near empty aquarium at night, sipping wine and holding hands with your love is one great experience. I’d say it’s my favorite thing I’ve done in the DC area. That at the full moon hike at the National Arboretum.
