April 2011
Traveling make me miss C an extra amount.
March 2011
Jill Brown Photography →
If you are ever in Des Moines and need a photographer, Jill Brown is fabulous. I had such a great time working with her the past few days and am so excited to put together the audio slideshow with the photos she took for me.
My life won’t ever be the same after today. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but I do feel like spending the day with someone who has completely dedicated themselves to helping others will give me some renewed focus.
I get to spend the day following an ELL instructor who works with elementary aged students from refugee camps in Africa. My job is pretty freakin rad sometimes.
Everything will work out. Everything will work out. EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT.
Of course my flight out of DCA is delayed!
Perfect Sunday. Slept in, swam for an hour with Casey (who taught me how to do a flip turn), Chipotle and now relaxing.
Losing Our Way →
I’m going to miss your columns Bob Herbert. Your voice is a critical one I hope gets replaced.
2 Things (I know right, an even number?):
1. Friday evening is the best time to go to the gym. Nobody is there! 2. I’m obsessed with my Vibrams, they feel so good. Unfortunately when I wear them people straight point and laugh at me and my feet. In the words of Snooki, “waaahhh.”
Ok, I now have the photographer I wanted and a plan for 1 out of 2 schools I want to visit next week. I am way less stressed. One of these days I will keep calm since things always come together last minute around here.
One of the ways I know that Casey is my match is that I sleep better with him than without him. Prior to C, I hated sharing my bed. I was perfectly happy with my previous relationship arrangements where we only saw each other on weekends. With C it’s different.
Back in my party days I was notorious for always making it back to my bed and my home, no matter what. I never did one night stands...
I am really really really really really stressed out.
I LOVE SWIMMING!
I hadn’t swum (is that a word?) in probably 2 years. Felt so freakin good. I love playing this game where I try to be as silent as possible cutting through the water and block out all external noise.
This is mean, but I hate when people take photos and think they are good, then expect me to use them somehow on our sites. I’m a photo snob. But then if I offer constructive criticism so I can hopefully use their photos in the future, I’m being difficult.
I have something to look forward to every month...
April: My last day of grad school is April 30th May: camping, Memorial Day Dewey Beach trip June: My birthday, completing my first mini-tri July: Convention in Chicago (note that our conventions are super stressful, but I love Chicago and am looking forward to all the good food) August: Moving into a new apartment with Casey September: PERU!!!
Family mourns American teacher's death in Japan →
“Taylor Anderson, a 24-year-old from Richmond, Va., had lived in Japan since August 2008. She was last seen after the powerful earthquake struck Japan on March 11, riding her bike away from the school where she taught after helping to get her students home.”
Ahh! This Des Moines trip has me stressed out. There is so much to do and confirm in so few days. Like, trying to hire a photographer while waiting on confirmation from a principal.
Initial plan for Peru
This will probably change 10 times. Oh, and I have to run this all by C first too. But here it goes: Day 1. Fly to Lima and overnight there. I have a lot of Marriott points and I could redeem that at a beach front hotel. Splurge on a nice dinner, wander a little bit and sleep well. Day 2. Fly to Cusco in the morning, take it easy as we acclimate to the altitude. Day 3. Explore Cusco, chew coca...
Walked 4 miles tonight in my Vibrams. Man are my legs and feet kinda tired. But I think I’m ready to run in them now.
Planning for Peru is a little overwhelming. There are so many things I want to do, so many options for each, and it’s all so expensive.
I’m going back to Iowa next week! I’m excited because I loved the schools and now I get to do a cool audio slideshow about educating refugee children. But man do I hope my flights go more smoothly.
Very sad news this weekend that just serves as a reminder to treasure your loved ones. Take the time to tell them you love them and appreciate them because you can never predict how any day will unfold.
